Niel Rossouw & Christiaan Pretorius proudly taking on the CAPE EPIC 2022 and several build up events in support of the ALTA DU TOIT AFTERCARE CENTRE!

THE TEAM

Niel Rossouw is the owner of Byers Security Solutions for the past 11 years and has been with the company for 21 years. He has 20 Years experience in Road and Mountain bike riding and is a Multiple finisher of many endurance, 240km one day events such as Trans Baviaans Cape Epic Finisher 2013. He has taken on several events in the name of charity and has completed two Epics specifically for HOOP and the Alta du Toit Aftercare Centre. Niel serves on the board of the Alta du Toit Aftercare Centre and is extremely passionate and involved in making a difference in the lives of intellectually disabled adults.

Christiaan Pretorius has been a passionate cyclist for the past 8 years and has completed some of the biggest races to date i.e. 2 Cape EPICS, Argus, Karoo to Coast, SANI’s, Tankwa Trek, Wine to Whales etc. He loves a healthy lifestyle and adores his 3 Children and Wife. He is looking forward in doing his 3rd Epic with his CLUB MYKONOS Team Mate Niel Rossouw!

2022 ROUTE

"The Absa Cape Epic’s route is one of life’s ever-changing constants. No two editions, in the race’s 19-year history, have been the same and that tradition holds true for the 2022 edition of the Untamed African MTB Race. In 2022, the challenge begins in Lourensford Wine Estate, before traversing the Hottentots Holland Mountains to Elandskloof.

After two stages of rugged riding on the trails of Greyton, the race heads towards the mountain biking mecca of Stellenbosch. 657-kilometres and 16 900-metres of climbing after setting off from Lourensford, the Absa Cape Epic reaches Val de Vie Estate where winners will be crowned and spots in The Book of Legend will be claimed."

THE CAUSE

The Cape Epic provides a great opportunity to raise funds for a charity that the team has been involved with for a number or years. The Alta Du Toit aftercare centre cares for physically and mentally disabled adults who often don’t have any family to look after them. It is a privilege for Christiaan and Niel to be able to partake in a premium endurance event and raise funds for people that embark daily on their own endurance event, just to get basic tasks done. The team will approach their families, friends, colleagues and businesses that they deal with daily to pledge assistance to the cause by sponsoring them per Km, event completed or upfront donations. Alta Du Toit is a registered NGO and will be able to supply any company with a section 18 certificate for tax deduction benefit.
